Neste artigo buscamos compreender se os pescadores da Ilha da Torotama, situada na Cidade de Rio Grande (RS) estabeleciam ou não relações entre a matemática do seu cotidiano da pesca artesanal com os novos conhecimentos adquiridos em sala de aula na modalidade do Ensino Educação para Jovens e Adultos (EJA). Abordagem metodológica consiste em uma pesquisa qualitativa, utilizando “Rodas de Conversa” como método de colega de dados e com a Análise Textual Discursiva (ATD) para análise. Deste processo de análise, emergem da discussão algumas categorias iniciais, entre eles a relação entre a teoria e a prática; entender na prática a teoria; importância da teoria e da matemática; aprofundamento dos conteúdos; metodologia diferenciada; modelos de escolas e interação entre eles. Surgindo então as categorias Intermediárias: relação Teoria e Prática; Importância da Matemática e Metodologia Diferenciadas. Por fim, surge à categoria final, importância das escolhas metodológicas nas relações entre teoria e prática.

This article is about our understanding if the Torotama the island of fishermen, located in City Rio Grande (RS) established or not relations between the mathematics of their artisanal fisheries everyday with the new knowledge acquired in the classroom in the form of Education Education for Young People and Adults (EJA). The methodological approach consists of a qualitative study, using "Talk wheels" as data co-method and the Discursive Textual Analysis (ATD) for analysis. This analysis process, emerge from the discussion some initial categories, including the relationship between theory and practice; understand the theory in practice; importance of theory and mathematics; deepening of the content; different methodology; models of schools and interaction between them. Appearing then the Intermediary categories: compared Theory and Practice; Importance of Mathematics and Differentiated methodology. Finally, comes the final category, importance of methodological choices in the relationship between theory and practice.
