ESSAY ABOUT THE CINEMA: A PSYCHOSOCIAL PERSPECTIVE OF THE SEVENTH ART
This paper presents some initial reflections on the Cinema emphasizing it as a manifestation of world culture, which gained the status of work of art – the Seventh Art. The primary objective was to highlight the social, cultural and historical character of the Cinema, presenting it in a psychosocial perspective. For this, the methodology used was literature, specially Adorno and Horkheimer (1985), Bergan (2009), Merten (2005), Morin (1989, 1990), and Zusman (1994). In this sense, it was discussed the transformation of Art into “culture industry”, the relationship between fan-idol and the value of “independent cinema”. And, finally, it was possible to consider that Cinema shows on the screen and, consequently, in the ‘collective self’ the social construction of reality; produced objective, subjective and historically by means of intra and interpsychic. The Cinema can also reveal to the spectator's eyes information about manhood’s pathways and social experience, as well as their own personal and everyday existence, as a historical ‘self’, who creates and is created by his/her own culture.
