Nas sociedades democráticas, tradicionalmente, a mÃdia tem sido responsável pela supervisão
das autoridades públicas, mas quem vigia aqueles que fiscalizam? Existem vários atores
envolvidos na resposta a esta questão. Entre eles está o ombudsman, que pode exercer esse
controle diretamente e também em resposta às reclamações dos usuários sobre alguns
comportamentos não profissionais. É comum também que o ombudsman complete sua missão,
contribuindo para um trabalho de alfabetização/literácia das audiências, de modo que essas
exijam cada vez mais qualidade no jornalismo oferecido. Neste contexto, o objetivo deste
trabalho é descrever como a chegada de várias ferramentas tecnológicas alargam as
oportunidades desta alfabetização/literácia. Basta abrir seu site, blog ou contas em redes como
Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin ou Quora e se preparar para aprender. A seguir, oferecemos
algumas das melhores práticas de alfabetização/literácia promovida pelos ombudsman de todo
o mundo.

Traditionally, in democratic societies, media have had the responsibility of overseeing public
authorities but, oversees those who oversee? There are several actors in charge. One of them is
the newsombudsman, who can supervise directly or also responding the complaints and feedback
from user regarding some bad behaviors. To do this, it is also common that newsombudsmen
add a literacy mission to their audit one, so that audiences can call for a better journalism. In
this context, the aim of this paper is to describe how the arrival of social media offers new
opportunities to extend this literacy mission without having to invent new instruments. All that
newsombudsmen have to do is to sign up a web, a blog or accounts on social networks such
as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin or Quora and be ready to learn. The following pages show a
collection of some of the best literacy practices and tools from newsombudsmen all around the
world. For it, we have reviewed the websites, blogs and Facebook and Twitter accounts of more
than 10 newsombudsmen worldwide.
