EFICÁCIA RITUAL E EFICÁCIA TURÍSTICA: O RITUAL DO AWÊ ENTRE OS PATAXÓ MERIDIONAIS E O TURISMO

O presente trabalho pretende apresentar uma discussão em torno da inserção no contexto turístico da prática de um ritual indígena. O Awê, ritual praticado pelos Pataxó da aldeia de Coroa Vermelha em Santa Cruz Cabrália – BA, será analisado ao longo do trabalho enfatizando a discussão em torno da eficácia ritual e sua relação com o turismo. Procura-se demonstrar que, no caso do Awê, a eficácia ritual é percebida em conexão com a eficácia turística do ritual. O trabalho foi realizado utilizando uma abordagem etnográfica que lança mão da observação participante como técnica principal. Utiliza-se também a pesquisa bibliográfica enfocando parte da produção etnológica sobre os Pataxó como fonte acessória de dados. Procurar-se demonstrar que a eficácia simbólica do ritual, percebida no caso do Awê como a capacidade de formular critérios de identificação, de auto-representação e de representação externa, tem uma ligação intrínseca com a eficácia turística do ritual e sua propriedade de veicular e ampliar o conhecimento externo a respeito de sua existência. Essa propriedade comunicativa do ritual turístico teria por função legitimar alguns dos aspectos do ritual, notadamente sua eficácia na formulação de critérios de semelhança e diferença definidores da identidade.

This paper aims to present a discussion of integration in the context of tourism the practice of a native ritual. The Awê, ritual practiced by the Pataxó of the Coroa Vermelha village in Santa Cruz Cabrália - BA, is discussed throughout the paper emphasizing the discussion of ritual efficacy and its relation with tourism. Sought to demonstrate that in the case of awe, the ritual efficacy is perceived in connection with the effectiveness of the tourist ritual. The study was conducted using an ethnographic approach that makes use of participant observation as the principal technique. It is also used the literature, focusing on some parts of the production on the ethnological field about Pataxó as a source of ancillary data. Seek to demonstrate that the efficacy of symbolic ritual, perceived in the case of Awê as the ability to formulate criteria for the identification, self-representation and external representation, has an intrinsic connection with the effectiveness of the tourist ritual and its ownership of vehicular and broaden external knowledge about their existence. This communicative property of the ritual in tourism would be to legitimize some of the aspects of the ritual, particularly its effectiveness in the formulation of criteria of similarity and difference of defining identity.
