O presente trabalho objetiva demonstrar que a educação ambiental constitui-se em elemento essencial Ã
formação de uma consciência ecológica crÃtica, a qual se mostra imprescindÃvel ao alcance de uma efetiva
tutela do meio ambiente natural. Apontam-se, inicialmente, ainda que de forma indicativa, os mais relevantes
traços histórico-normativos da educação ambiental, tanto no âmbito internacional quanto no âmbito nacional,
como forma de se delinearem os contornos deste elemento tão caro à indução de uma participação polÃtica
efetiva na tutela do meio ambiente. A preocupação seguinte diz respeito ao enfoque da importância da
educação ambiental na formação de uma consciência ecológica crÃtica.
The present work aims to demonstrate that the environmental education is an essential element to the
formation of a critical ecologic conscience, which is indispensable to achievement of an effective protection
of the natural environment. It is pointed out, although in an indicative way, the most relevant historicalnormative
aspects of the environmental education in both national and international ambits, as a form of
delineating the contours of such important element to the induction of an efective political participation in the
environmental protection.The subsequent concerns focus is in the importance of the environmental education
in a construction of a critical ecologic conscience.
