O legado cientÃfico de Albert Einstein – especialmente a Teoria da
Relatividade (Especial e Geral) – é internacionalmente conhecido, em
conseqüência das radicais transformações promovidas na FÃsica no
século XX. Seu pensamento em relação à educação, entretanto, é
bem menos divulgado, a despeito do caráter profundamente
vanguardista – mesmo hoje, em pleno século XXI –, expresso em
algumas de suas concepções sobre as instituições educacionais, a
atividade docente e os processos de ensino-aprendizagem. É sobre
esta vertente das concepções de Einstein – a preocupação e a
ocupação com uma educação fundamentada em princÃpios como:
liberdade, responsabilidade, criatividade e humildade – que será
constituÃda a argumentação do presente ensaio.

Albert Einstein’s scientific legacy – mainly Relativity Theory (both
Special and General) – is by now widespread, as a result of the radical
changes brought about into Physics in the twentieth century. His
thoughts in terms of education are, however, far less-known, despite
their deep and far-reaching character – even nowadays, in the XXI
century – expressed in some of his views on educational institutions,
teaching activities and teaching-learning. This essay sets out to
highlight this aspect of Einstein's personality – his concern and
involvement with an education based on principles such as freedom,
responsibility, creativity and humility.
