A seca é um problema que maltrata o nordestino, e são diversos fatores, vai desde o solo aos fatores do clima, o presente artigo tem por finalidade discutir, apresentar as características existentes dentro do alto oeste tais como o clima, os solos, e suas principais bacias hidrográficas. Através desse mostrar as possíveis soluções, para enfrentar a falta de água de forma a desenvolver uma melhor convivência entre a seca e o homem, tendo em vista que tal problemática ficará, num futuro próximo cada vez mais frequente, problemas como a escassez de água, o aumento nas temperaturas, os eventos climáticos, farão com que ocorra uma diminuição da precipitação, e consequentemente a migração e a evasão dessas pessoas do alto oeste potiguar em busca de melhores condições de vida. A ideia é mostrar algumas alternativas de captação de água capazes de ajudar numa boa e harmoniosa melhoria e convívio no sertão nordestino. Baseamos-nos nas dissertações de autores que falam da seca, referencias como Mendes, Pontes, Machado, Silva entre outros. A pesquisa teve por finalidade mostrar algumas alternativas, para mostrar de forma explicativa, descritiva e através de aspectos que comprovam a eficiência do uso dessas alternativas e entre outros métodos que são encontrados. Por isso a importância da discussão e a busca por soluções, para a melhoria no alto oeste potiguar, mais precisamente na localidade denominada por polígono da seca.

Drought is a problem that mistreats the northeast, and are several factors, ranging from the soil to climate factors, this paper aims to discuss existing features present within the high west such as climate, soils, and their major watersheds. Through this show possible solutions to address the lack of water in order to develop a better coexistence between drought and man, in order that such issues will be in the near future increasingly common, problems such as water scarcity, the increase in temperatures, weather events, will cause a decrease in precipitation occurs, and consequently the migration and avoidance of these people from the high western Natal in search of better living conditions. The idea is to show some alternatives for water catchment able to help a good and harmonious coexistence and improvement in the northeastern hinterland. We base ourselves in the dissertations of authors who speak of drought, as references Mendes Pontes, Machado, Silva among others. The research aimed to show some alternatives to show an explanatory way, and descriptive aspects through which prove the efficiency of the use of these alternatives and among other methods that are found. Hence the importance of the discussion and the search for solutions to improve the high western Natal, more precisely in the place named by the drought area.
