Este artigo de filosofia política, elaborado com base em uma metodologia qualitativa e com pesquisa teórica tem como objetivo realizar um mapeamento do Republicanismo, abordando os seus principais aspectos, bem como os possíveis diálogos com o Liberalismo e ao final esclarecer com um breve estudo de caso o “problema do patriotismo”, a partir do Movimento Separatista do Sul. Inicialmente enfrenta-se a pluralidade de concepções acerca do conceito de Republicanismo, com uma concisa análise histórica do mesmo e estabelecendo os elementos fundamentais desta corrente, quais sejam, reivindicação da liberdade, ausência de domínio e construção de um estado livre. Em seguida passa-se ao estudo destes elementos, a partir do que seria uma vida republicana, que, em resumo, seria o controle das instituições básicas da sociedade pelos cidadãos, que devem ser altamente engajados nesta construção. Feito isso, traça-se um panorama do Liberalismo em contraposição ao Republicanismo, chegando ao entendimento de que a liberdade é consequência do autogoverno e que este é o garantidor da Legitimidade. Por fim, enfrenta-se o que seria o “problema do patriotismo” no Republicanismo com um caso real de Patriotismo Virulento, o Movimento Separatista do Sul.

This article of political philosophy, elaborated on the basis of a qualitative methodology and with theoretical research, aims to carry out a mapping of Republicanism, addressing its main aspects, as well as the possible dialogues with Liberalism and at the end clarifying with a brief case study The "problem of patriotism" from the Southern Separatist Movement. Initially, it confronts the plurality of conceptions about the concept of Republicanism, with a concise historical analysis of it and establishing the fundamental elements of this current, namely, the claim of freedom, absence of domination and construction of a free state. Then, we proceed to the study of these elements, from what would be a republican life, which, in short, would be the control of the basic institutions of society by the citizens, who must be highly engaged in this construction. Once this is done, a panorama of Liberalism is presented in opposition to Republicanism, arriving at the understanding that freedom is the consequence of self-government and that this is the guarantor of Legitimacy. Finally, we face what would be the "problem of patriotism" in Republicanism with a real case of Virulent Patriotism, the South Separatist Movement.
