Destinos turísticos costeiros se destacam pelas possibilidades de desenvolvimento econômico. Assim, este estudo analisa a produção científica sobre destinos turísticos costeiros anterior ao ano 2000, com foco nas principais temáticas abordadas e suas contribuições para o campo do turismo. O objetivo é identificar estudos sobre usos e impactos do turismo costeiro, utilizando uma abordagem exploratória e descritiva, com delineamento bibliográfico e estratégias de busca baseada na bibliometria. A pesquisa revela o aumento das preocupações com os impactos ambientais, socioculturais e econômicos do turismo, destacando a necessidade de políticas de turismo sustentável e gestão integrada. A principal conclusão é que a participação da comunidade local e a diversificação do turismo são essenciais para promover um desenvolvimento sustentável e minimizar os impactos negativos nas regiões costeiras.

Therefore, this study analyzes the scientific production on coastal tourist destinations prior to the year 2000, focusing on the main themes addressed and their contributions to the field of tourism. The aim is to identify studies on the uses and impacts of coastal tourism, using an exploratory and descriptive approach, with a bibliographic design and search strategies based on bibliometrics. The research reveals growing concerns about the environmental, socio-cultural, and economic impacts of tourism, highlighting the need for sustainable tourism policies and integrated management. The main conclusion is that the participation of the local community and the diversification of tourism are essential for promoting sustainable development and minimizing the negative impacts on coastal regions.
