Cylindrotettix chacoensis Roberts, 1975 é um gafanhoto que se distingue dos demais integrantes
da família Acrididae por apresentar o corpo longilíneo e a presença de estruturas incomuns na
genitália do macho e da fêmea. O presente trabalho objetiva registrar a ocorrência da espécie para
o Estado do Rio Grande do Sul e apresentar as principais características morfológicas. As coletas
foram realizadas durante o período de um ano em uma plantação da gramínea Tifton 85. Obteve-se
159 exemplares, que foram fotografados com objetivo de facilitar a identificação.

Cylindrotettix chacoensis Roberts, 1975 is one grasshopper distinguished of the other members
of the family Acrididae for presenting a slender body and uncommon structures in the male’s and
female’s genital. The paper registers the occurrence of the species in Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, and presents the main morphologic characteristics. Sampling was realized during an one
year period in a plantation of gramineous Tifton 85. There were obtained 159 samples, photographed
in order to facilitate identification.
