Este artigo busca elaborar uma visão panorâmica sobre o desenvolvimento do Franciscanismo o decorrer da Idade Média, conjuntamente com as discussões historiográficas que têm contemplado o movimento franciscano tanto no âmbito da história da religiosidade como no âmbito da história social e polÃtica. O texto também procura apresentar as principais fontes do movimento franciscano na Idade Média.
This article searches for elaborate a panoramic view about the Franciscanism along the Middle Ages, presenting the correspondent historiographic discussions that have been established around the Franciscan movement both inside the field of Religious history and as well the fields of Social and Political history. The text also presents the medieval sources related to the Franciscan movement in the Middle Ages.
