CONHECIMENTO DE ADOLESCENTES SOBRE A PRÁTICA DE ATIVIDADE FÍSICA

O estudo objetivou analisar o conhecimento de estudantes de escolas públicas sobre atividade fÃsica, através de uma abordagem quantitativa realizada com 296 jovens na faixa etária de 13 a 21 anos, em três escolas públicas na sede do municÃpio de Sobral – CE. Para coleta de dados foi aplicado um questionário, adaptado da pesquisa de Silveira e Silva (2011). Para a análise dos dados utilizamos a distribuição de frequências, através do programa SPSS 15.0. A maioria dos participantes (74,3%) acertou quando afirmou que práticas de atividades fÃsicas podem ajudar na prevenção da hipertensão arterial. Um percentual de 97,6% dos jovens demonstrou possuir conhecimento sobre o câncer de pele quando não relacionou a doença com a prática de atividade fÃsica. No entanto, em relação à ginástica localizada, apenas 38,9% dos jovens acertaram afirmando que essa atividade é do tipo aeróbia, bem como apenas 29,1% apresentou conhecimento sobre a prática andar de bicicleta ser do tipo aeróbia. Os estudantes demonstraram um desempenho regular sobre o conhecimento das atividades fÃsicas como método de prevenção de doenças e outras funções. É importante ressaltar que os mesmos precisam aprofundar seus conhecimentos, principalmente sobre as funções das práticas de exercÃcios fÃsicos.

This study had as objective to analyze the knowledge of students from public schools on physical activity, by means of a quantitative approach with 296 students in the 13 to 21-year age range, in three public schools located in the municipality of Sobral, Ceará. For data collection a questionnaire was applied, adapted from the study by Silveiraand Silva (2011).For data analysis, distribution of frequency was used, using the SPSS program, version 15.0. Most of the participants (74.3%) were correct when they affirmed that the practice of physical activity may help in the prevention of high blood pressure. 97.6% of the youths demonstrated having knowledge on skin cancer when they reported they the disease was not related to the practice of physical activity. However, regarding located gymnastics, only 38.9% of the youths replied correctly affirming that this activity is of aerobic type, as well as only 29.1% presented knowledge on the practice of cycling being of aerobic type. These students demonstrated regular performance on the knowledge of physical activities as a method of sickness prevention and other functions. It is important to highlight that theseadolescents need to deepen their knowledge, especially on the reasons for doing physical exercises.
