Este artigo trata do modo como os acervos arquivÃsticos, biblioteconômicos e
museológicos são tratados na realidade costumeira do Brasil. Discute os
paradigmas técnicos, cientÃficos e culturais existentes e o problema da relação das
instituições de guarda com seu público. Analisa os valores atribuÃdos pela
sociedade brasileira e pelo Estado aos acervos dessa natureza e suas instituições
responsáveis. Por fim, examina a noção de cultura em relação aos objetos que
compõem esses acervos, concluindo pela necessidade de se modificar a relação
dessas instituições com seu público, bem como alterar alguns parâmetros
socioprofissionais recorrentes.
This paper deals with the way archival, library and museum collections are handled
in the common Brazilian scenario. It discusses existing technical, scientific and
cultural paradigms, and the relationship between preservation institutions and their
public. It analyses the values attributed by Brazilian society and State to collections
of this kind and the institutions responsible for them. Finally, it examines the notion
of culture related to the objects composing these collections, concluding with the
necessity to modify the relationship of these institutions with their public, as well as
changing some recurring socioprofissional parameters.
