O estudo ora apresentado questiona a relevância de pro-jetos de unifi cação nacional que silenciam a respeito da colonialidade das relações sociais. Em refl exo, o objetivo central da análise é delimitar o papel que as simbolizações raciais ocuparam na in-tegração nacional e na constituição da posição subordinada que o Brasil ocupa em relação aos países de capitalismo central. Para cumprir o objetivo adotado o estudo observou como alguns juristas pretendiam solucionar o problema da integração nacional nos sé-culos XIX e XX. A referida investigação mostrou que a emergência do Brasil enquanto Estado-nação exigiu que o Direito e os juristas refl etissem sobre a heterogeneidade racial do território brasileiro, evidenciando que raça e nação são temas vinculados à instituição do Estado nas zonas neocoloniais. A contradição havida entre a presença e a ausência da discussão racial na formação do Estado foi enfrentada a partir do método interdisciplinar, suspendendo-se, na materialidade, a abstração que orienta a doxa jurídica. Ao fi m, a pesquisa concluiu que o combate à racialização das posições e espaços sociais é indispensável a projetos nacionais que almejem a materialização da independência política e econômica do territó-rio, evidenciado a limitação das simbolizações de nação despidas da referida característica.
The present study questions the relevance of national unifi-cation projects that silence about the coloniality of social relations. As a reflection, the central objective of the analysis is to delimit the role that racial symbolizations played in national integration and in the constitution of the subordinate position that Brazil occupies in relation to the countries of central capitalism. To fulfill the objective adopted, the study observed how some jurists intended to solve the problem of national integration in the 19th and 20th centuries. This observa-tion showed the emergence of Brazil as a nation-state demanded that the law and jurists reflect on the racial heterogeneity of the Brazilian territory, showing that Race and nation are themes linked to the in-stitution of the State in neocolonial zones. The contradiction between the presence and the absence of racial discussion in the formation of the State was faced from the interdisciplinary method, suspending, in materiality, the abstraction that guides the legal doxa. At the end, the research concluded that combating the racialization of social positions and spaces is indispensable for national projects that aim at materializ-ing the political and economic independence of the territory, evidenc-ing the limitation of the symbolizations of the nation stripped of that characteristic.
