Este estudo analisa as relações entre experiência e experimentalismo no conto “Lixo e purpurina”, de Caio Fernando Abreu. Sua hipótese é a de que, neste texto, a articulação entre a narrativa ficcional e a experiência se dá, ainda que de modo precário, mediante um processo de liricização por meio do qual o narrador, levando ao extremo a particularização de sua voz, visão de mundo e experiência vivida e narrada, atinge um universal que possibilita a transformação da vivência narrada em experiência legada ao outro: leitor, público, sociedade.

This work deals with the relations between experience and experimentalism in “Lixo e Purpurina” (“Garbage and Glitter”), a short story by the Brazilian writer Caio Fernando Abreu. Our hypothesis is that, in this text, the articulation between fictional narrative and experience, in spite of its precariousness, is done by a process of lyricism, through which the narrator, taking the particularization of his voice, of his vision of things and of the narrated and lived experience to their utmost limits, reaches a universal which enables to change the narrated experience into an experience communicable to the other: reader, public, society.
