Este ensaio tem por objetivo analisar o diálogo existente entre as obras Veredicto em Canudos, de Sándor Márai e Os Sertões, de Euclides da Cunha. Desde o título, da produção do húngaro, nota-se claramente a intertextualidade, principalmente se considerarmos que na constituição da própria palavra, intertextualidade, existe uma relação entre os textos. Assim, pretendemos realizar um estudo comparativo das obras supracitadas e discutir as peculiaridades que nos saltaram aos olhos e nos fascinaram diante desta sentença canudense. Para tanto, nos fundamentamos, especialmente, nos seguintes textos: “O Soldado Adormecido”, de Vasques da Cunha e “A estratégia da forma”, de Laurent Jenny.

This research aims to analyze the dialogue between the works Verdict in Canudos, by Sándor Márai and Os Sertões, by Euclides da Cunha. Since the title of the Hungarian production, intertextuality is clearly evident, especially if we consider that in the constitution of the word itself, intertextuality, there is a relationship between the texts. Thus, we intend to carry out a comparative study of the aforementioned works and discussthe peculiarities that leapt to our eyes and fascinated us in the face of this Canudos’ sentence. For that, we are based, in particular, on the following texts: "O Soldado Adormecido", by Vasques da Cunha and "A estratégia da forma", by Laurent Jenny.
