BREVE ESTUDO COMPARATIVO ENTRE ALGUNS ELEMENTOS ÉPICOS DE OS LUSÍADAS, "O SENTIMENTO DUM OCIDENTAL" E MENSAGEM

A relação de forças entre os elementos épicos e líricos dos três poemas, a saber, Os Lusíadas de Luís de Camões, “O Sentimento dum Ocidental” de Cesário Verde e Mensagem de Fernando Pessoa evidencia e documenta o quanto foi necessário alargar os limites da razão humana em decorrência das navegações e descobrimentos dos portugueses no século XVI, reiterando de diferentes modos a história trágico-marítima de Portugal, cantada em versos. Além do enfoque temporal, multissecular, que abrange do início à fase terminal do processo de dissolução do império, aqui sinteticamente mencionado, este texto busca apontar algumas aproximações e distanciamentos entre os referidos poemas, para ressaltar que, na história trágico-marítima portuguesa, esse alargamento da razão vem junto com outro alargamento: o alargamento da melancolia provocada pelas perdas e sofrimentos que as empresas marítimas causaram ao povo português. Em outras palavras, queremos brevemente estudar um pouco do que os une e os separa, enquanto textos poéticos. Para tanto, valeram-nos, entre outras obras, a de Jacinto do Prado Coelho e de Maria Helena Nery Garcez, os quais, além do enfoque temporal, apresentam o ponto de vista geográfico, a estrutura compositiva e elementos da linguagem poética, ora embalada pelo sopro épico ora pela narrativa lírica.

The relation of strength between the epic and lyric elements of the poems Os Lusíadas from Luís de Camões, “O Sentimento dum Ocidental” from Cesário Verde and Mensagem from Fernando Pessoa shows up and documents all that was necessary to extend the limits of the human reason as a result of the great navigations and the portuguese voyages of discovery in the 16th century, reiterating different ways the maritime-tragic history of Portugal, presented in verses. Besides a spacetime focal, multisecular, which includes from the beginning to the terminal decline of the empire, in a summarized analysis, this text intends to present some approaches and gaps between these poems, to point out that, with the extension of reason, comes another extension: the extension of melancholy, caused by suffering and loss, that maritime industries had caused on those people. In other words, our purpose is to study some aspects which unit and separate those poetic texts. For this reason had been required, among others, texts from Jacinto do Prado Coelho and Maria Helena Nery Garcez with focus on time and geographical points of view, compounding structure and elements of poetry language, sometimes lulled by the epic blow, sometimes by the lyric narrative.
