Resumo Português:

O presente artigo tem por propósito analisar a obra “Gender Hurts: a feminist analysis of the politics of transgenderism”, de Sheila Jeffreys, à luz das críticas ao correlacionismo de Quentin Meillassoux e dos apontamentos acerca da bifurcação natureza/cultura levantados por Bruno Latour. Com base neste objetivo, primeiramente, apresenta-se um breve resumo da obra, no qual são apresentados os fundamentos principais da tese da autora. Em seguida, os conceitos de gênero e transgeneridade, pontos chaves do livro, são apresentados e relacionados às ideias centrais das filosofias de base correlacionista. Outrossim, busca-se demonstrar como tanto gênero, quanto a transgeneridade, aparecem na obra como conceitos bifurcados. Por fim, sugere-se alguns autores que podem ajudar a pensar as questões de gênero fora, seja de um paradigma correlacionista, seja de um conceito bifurcado.

This article was aims to analyze the work “Gender Hurts: a feminist analysis of the politics of transgenderism”, by Sheila Jeffreys, based on criticisms on correlationism, by Quentin Meillassoux and the notes on the bifurcation of nature and culture raised by Bruno Latour. Based on this objective, first, a brief summary of the work is presented, in which the main foundations of the author's thesis are presented. Then, the concepts of gender and transgenderism, key points of the book, are presented and related to the central ideas of correlationist-based philosophies. Furthermore, it seeks to demonstrate how both gender and transgenderism appears in the work as bifurcated concepts. Finally, we suggest some authors who can help thinking about gender issues outside either from a correlationist paradigm, or from a bifurcated concept.
