A identificação de animais eficientes no aproveitamento do alimento consumido é fundamental, pois os custos com alimentação representam a maior despesa na pecuária. Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a eficiência alimentar de bovinos Nelore PO (Puro de Origem) utilizando a ferramenta de mensuração Intergado, um sistema eletrônico que permite o monitoramento individual do consumo de alimentos e do peso dos animais. Foram acompanhados 12 bovinos, machos e inteiros, originários da raça Nelore. Durante o período avaliado, os animais apresentaram média de ganho de peso diário de 2,16 kg. A eficiência alimentar média foi de 0,26. Os resultados reforçam a importância da seleção de animais mais eficientes.
Identifying animals that are efficient in making use of the feed they consume is essential, since feed costs represent the largest expense in livestock farming. This study aimed to evaluate the feed efficiency of Nelore PO (Pure Breed) cattle using the Intergado measurement tool, an electronic system that allows individual monitoring of feed consumption and animal weight. Twelve male and intact cattle originating from the Nelore breed were monitored. During the period evaluated, the animals showed an average daily weight gain of 2.16 kg. The average feed efficiency was 0.26. The results reinforce the importance of selecting more efficient animals.
