Objetivou-se com este artigo analisar a produção científica sobre a assistência domiciliar ao idoso no contexto da Estratégia Saúde da Família (ESF) devido à importância de aprofundar o conhecimento teórico neste tema, visto o grande potencial da assistência domiciliar para provocar mudanças na prática dos profissionais, proporcionando um cuidado humanizado, integral e que responda às necessidades dos idosos e família. Para a condução desta investigação, adotou-se a revisão integrativa da literatura. Na seleção dos artigos foram utilizadas três bases de dados, a saber: o LILACS (Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde); a MEDLINE (Medical LiteratureAnalysisandRetrievalSistem on-line) e o Scielo (Scientific Eletronic Library Online). Os critérios de inclusão foram artigos disponíveis eletronicamente; artigos disponíveis nos idiomas português, inglês ou espanhol; e artigos completos que abordam o tema. As buscas foram realizadas no mês de junho de 2013 a partir dos seguintes descritores: assistência domiciliar, saúde da família e idoso. Assim,foram selecionados seis artigos. A produção científica encontrada, embora pequena, é bastante atualizada e discute principalmente os fatores facilitadores e limitantes dessa atividade, enfocando nas interações e relações estabelecidas entre o trinômio profissional, idoso e família. As equipes de saúde da família devem estar organizadas para oferecer apoio aos cuidadores familiares e possibilitar uma assistência de qualidade e contínua aos idosos.

With this study, we had as objective to analyze scientific production on home nursing of the elderly in the context of the Family Health Strategy (FHS)due to the importance of developing theoretical knowledge on this theme, considering the great potential of home nursing to promote changes in professional practice, proportioning humanized and integral care that corresponds to the needs of the elderly and their families.To conduct this investigation, an integrative review of the literature was conducted. In the selection of articles three databases were used, namely: LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature); MEDLINE (Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online) andSciELO (The Scientific Electronic Library Online).Inclusion criteria were articles available electronically; articles available in the Portuguese, English or Spanish languages; and complete articles that address the theme. The searches were conducted in the month of June 2013 using the following descriptors: home nursing, family health and elderly. In this manner, six articles were selected.The scientific production encountered, albeit small, is quite up to date and mostly discusses the facilitating and limiting factors of this activity, focusing on the interactions and the relationships established between the professional trinomial, the elderly and the family. The family health teams must be organized to offer support to family caregivers and enable quality and continuous nursing for the elderly.
