Neste artigo, analisamos aspectos da negação na língua Asurini do Xingu. O processo de negação nessa língua está diretamente relacionado ao tipo de construção negada, ficando, assim, evidenciada a relação estreita entre escopo semântico, morfologia e sintaxe. Encontram-se, na língua, várias formas de negação já que associadas a funções sintáticas distintas e, portanto, com escopo semântico sobre diferentes constituintes. Morfologicamente, a negação é codificada por morfema descontínuo, sufixo e partículas.

In this article, we analyze aspects of negative structure in the Asurini language of the Xingu. The negative process in this language is directly related to the type of denial construct, thus revealing the close relationship between semantic scope, morphology and syntax. Various forms of negation are found in the language, since they are associated with distinct syntactic functions and, therefore, with semantic scope on different constituents. Morphologically, negation is coded by discontinuous morpheme, suffix, and particles.
