APROXIMANDO A TRADUÇÃO E A COGNIÇÃO: TRAÇOS E PROTÓTIPOS

Resumo Português:

O presente trabalho, baseado na nossa dissertação cujo nome é: “Tradução &
Cognição: Interfaces”, pretende tratar do encontro de dois campos de estudo: a linguística e a
psicologia. Pretendemos buscar o ponto de convergência, de justaposição no qual incluiremos
os estudos da tradução, visando compreender os processos mentais que influem no trabalho
do tradutor. Discutiremos a importância de compreender a linguagem como parte de um
sistema social de escolhas, da figura do tradutor mais além do bilíngue, com capacidades e
competências específicas, destacando e relacionando os processos cognitivos às suas
atividades. O papel da psicologia cognitiva, da semântica cognitiva e da teoria do protótipo,
para a tradução, pode ser entrelaçado à contribuição dos estudos de equivalência em tradução,
com a menção de correspondências totais ou derivadas, ou dos estudos de literatura, com os
rastros que permanecem em leituras e produções, realçando dessa forma, a presença de um
elemento primordial e duradouro no intercâmbio sígnico.

Resumo Inglês:

This paper, which is based on our thesis named: "Translation & Cognition:
Interfaces”, plans to discuss the connection of two fields of study: linguistics and psychology.
We intend to find the point of convergence, which will include the juxtaposition of translation
studies, to understand the mental processes that influence the work of the translator. We will
discuss the importance of understanding the language as part of a system of social choices, the
role of the translator being more than bilingual, with specifics skills and abilities, and
emphasizing cognitive processes relating to their activities. The role of cognitive psychology,
cognitive semantics and prototype theory, the translation can be linked with the contribution
of studies of equivalence in translation, mentioning derivative or total correspondences, or the
study of literature with traces that remain on readings and productions, highlighting the
presence of an essential and enduring element in the exchange of meaning.
