António Sardinha, precursor do lusotropicalismo?

O presente artigo centra-se no estudo da relação intelectual existente entre António Sardinha (1887-1925) e Gilberto Freyre (1900-1987). Partindo das sete cartas trocadas pelos dois estudiosos, entre 1923 e 1925, e resvalando para a análise das principais teses “hispânicas” desenvolvidas por Sardinha, realçaremos a influência que o ideólogo do integralismo português pôde exercer na fundamentação das teorias lusotropicalistas de Freyre. A discussão da possível filiação entre certamente o mais consagrado dos intelectuais brasileiros do século XX e o máximo doutrinador da direita portuguesa do primeiro quartel do mesmo século constitui, portanto, o principal objetivo deste texto.

The following article focuses on the study of the intellectual connection between António Sardinha (1887-1925) and Gilberto Freyre (1900-1987). Using the private correspondence between the two scholars as a starting point (1923-1925), and with a particular focus on the analysis of the major "Hispanic" theories developed by Sardinha, we will highlight the influence that the theoretician of the Portuguese integralism had on Freyre's lusotropicalist theories. The possible filiation between the 20th century's most renowned Brazilian intellectual and the biggest Portuguese right wing's theoretician is therefore the main objective of this article.
