O objetivo foi avaliar o perfil do aleitamento materno, a prevalência de anemia e o estado nutricional de lactentes de 6 e 12 meses de idade acompanhados pela Estratégia Saúde da FamÃlia de Joinville. Os dados foram obtidos nas Unidades Básicas de Saúde por meio de entrevista com as mães, coleta de sangue periférico e antropometria das crianças. Todas as mães iniciaram amamentação exclusiva e 23,3% a mantiveram até o 6º mês. A prevalência de anemia foi de 58,3 e 43,1% aos 6 e 12 meses, respectivamente. Nenhuma criança nasceu com baixo peso e a maioria apresentou peso adequado para a idade. Deve-se aumentar o incentivo ao aleitamento materno de forma a prevenir o desenvolvimento da anemia.
This was intended to evaluate the profile of breastfeeding, the prevalence of anemia and nutritional status of nurslings from 6 to 12 months of age monitored by the Family Health Strategy in the city of Joinville. Data were obtained in the Basic Health Units through interviews with mothers, peripheral blood collection, and anthropometry of children. All mothers initiated exclusive breastfeeding and 23.3% kept it until the 6th month. The prevalence of anemia was 58.3 and 43.1% from 6 to 12 months, respectively. No child was born with low weight and most had adequate weight for age. The incentive to
breastfeeding to prevent the development of anemia should be encouraged.
