Este artigo analisa o papel institucional do Ministério Público na implementação da Lei Maria da Penha ao longo de seus 18 anos de vigência. Destaca-se sua atuação na proteção das vítimas, fiscalização das políticas públicas e responsabilização dos agressores. A pesquisa utiliza revisão bibliográfica e análise documental para investigar como o órgão contribui para a efetividade da lei e o enfrentamento da violência contra a mulher. Os resultados indicam que o Ministério Público exerce função decisiva no fortalecimento da justiça, da cidadania e na promoção dos direitos humanos das mulheres no contexto brasileiro.
This article analyzes the institutional role of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in the implementation of the Maria da Penha Law over its 18 years of existence. It highlights the Office’s actions in protecting victims, overseeing public policies, and holding of-fenders accountable. The research employs bibliographic review and document analysis to investigate how the institution contributes to the effectiveness of the law and the fight against violence toward women. The findings indicate that the Public Prosecutor’s Office plays a decisive role in strengthening justice, citizenship, and the promotion of women’s human rights within the Brazilian context.
