“A VERDADEIRA HISTÓRIA” SEGUNDO BERNADINO: UMA ANÁLISE DO ROMANCE CALDEIRÃO, DE CLÁUDIO AGUIAR

Analisaremos a confluência da história e literatura, atentando às diferenças que
ocorrem na passagem do fato histórico para o ato literário, no romance Caldeirão
(1982), obra que ficcionaliza um dos mais tristes episódios da história do Ceará, a
destruição da fazenda homônima do romance, ocorrida em 1936/37. Constatamos que o
escritor cearense Cláudio Aguiar (1944) buscou representar “a verdadeira história” do
povo do Caldeirão e de seu principal integrante, o beato José Lourenço, chegando
mesmo a escolher como narrador um ‘remanescente’ da comunidade Caldeirão.

Resumo Inglês:

We shall analize the confluence of history and literature, observing the
differences ocurring in the passage from the historic fact to the literary act in the novel
Caldeirão (1982), which depicts one of the saddest episodes in Ceará’s history, the
destruction of the homonimous farm in 1936/37. We concluded that the writer Claudio
Aguiar, born in Ceará himself, tried to represent the “true history” of Caldeirão’s people
and of its main member, the so-called beato José Lourenço, to the point of choosing as
narrator a ‘remnant’ of the Caldeirão community.
