O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar o desenho metodológico desenvolvido por um grupo de pesquisadores(as) da Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco e os primeiros achados da investigação censitária da população em situação de rua da cidade do Recife, sobretudo, por ser uma pesquisa que se diferencia da maioria das investigações sobre população em situação de rua, ao ser planejada e executada no diálogo entre universidade, lideranças do movimento nacional da população de rua e instituições que atuam com essa público. Para tal, iremos colocar em tela o percurso da investigação, propõe-se fazer uma breve descrição da metodologia e dos instrumentos utilizados para coleta de dados, bem como os protocolos empregados na etapa da pesquisa censitária, cuja finalidade foi compreender as dinâmicas dos diferentes territórios. Além disso, observa-se os desdobramentos dos dados censitários na formulação de políticas de acesso a renda, a moradia, a alimentação, a saúde, a educação e cultura. Nesse sentido, as reflexões sobre a pesquisa, permite que se reconheça o exercício científico e pedagógico realizado pela universidade para desenvolver estratégias e instrumentos de contagem de pessoas que vivem invisibilizas e no limiar da dignidade humana.
The objective of this article is to present the methodological design developed by a group of researchers from the Federal
Rural University of Pernambuco and the initial findings of a census investigation of the homeless population in the city of Recife. This research differs from most investigations on the homeless population because it was planned and executed through dialogue between the university, leaders of the national homeless population movement, and institutions working
with this population. To this end, we will outline the research process, providing a brief description of the methodology and instruments used for data collection, as well as the protocols employed in the census phase, the purpose of which was to understand the dynamics of different territories. Furthermore, we will examine the implications of the census data for the formulation of policies related to access to income, housing, food
, health, education, and culture. In this sense, reflections on the research allow us to recognize the scientific and pedagogical work carried out by the university to develop strategies and instruments for counting people who live in invisibility and on the threshold of human dignity.
