UMA IGREJA COM ROSTO AMAZÔNICO: MEMÓRIA E PROFECIA A PARTIR DO CONTEXTO BRASILEIRO

A Amazônia tem despertado interesse no mundo, devido às peculiaridades do seu bioma e às suas múltiplas etnias, culturas e religiões. O Papa Francisco convocou um Sínodo especial: “Amazônia. Novos Caminhos para a Igreja e para uma ecologia integral”. Corre-se o risco de se desconhecer a longa caminhada já realizada pelas igrejas da região e não se aprender com a sua história. Então, o artigo visa mostrar como nos últimos anos já se desenvolveu na região uma Igreja com rosto amazônico, que promoveu o cuidado da Casa Comum. Tal opção é a base segura para se empreender novos caminhos na atualidade. Serão utilizadas duas fontes principais: as conclusões dos encontros dos bispos da Amazônia brasileira e os documentos das Conferências do episcopado latino-americano. Inicialmente, se mostrará como a partir de Medellín a Igreja da Amazônia brasileira assumiu diretrizes pastorais para responder aos apelos da região, sobretudo a dos povos indígenas. A seguir, serão identificadas as opções pastorais e a visão de ecologia emanadas de Puebla, Santo Domingo e Aparecida. Apontar-se-á então como a Igreja da Amazônia brasileira assumiu um compromisso crescente diante das questões sociais e ambientais. Por fim, serão apresentados alguns desafios e oportunidades pastorais a partir da Igreja na Pan-amazônia.

The Amazonia has awakened interest in the world, due to the peculiarities of its biome and its multiple ethnicities, cultures and religions. Pope Francis called a special Synod: “Amazonia. New Paths for the Church and for an integral ecology “. One runs the risk of not knowing the long walk already carried out by the churches of the region and one does not learn from its history. So, the article aims to show how in recent years the church with an amazonian face has been developed in the región promoting the care of the Common Home. Such option is the safe basis for undertaking new paths today. Two main sources will be used: the conclusions of the meetings of the bishops of the Brazilian Amazon and the documents of the Conferences of the Latin American Episcopate. Initially, it will be shown how, starting from Medellín, the Church of the Brazilian Amazon assumed pastoral guidelines to respond to the region’s appeals, especially to indigenous peoples. Next, the pastoral options and vision of ecology emanating from Puebla, Santo Domingo and Aparecida will be identified. It will be pointed out how the Church of the Brazilian Amazon has assumed an increasing commitment to social and environmental issues. Finally, some challenges and pastoral opportunities will be presented from the Church in the Pan Amazon.
