Este artigo pretende demonstrar como, no pensamento de Rubem Alves, o conceito de esperança é central para a formação de uma teoria da religião. A nosso ver, a esperança se coloca entre a presença da ausência e a emigração mística, respondendo a uma falta ontológica no ser humano. A partir dessa caracterização, pretendemos dialogar com certa crítica feita a Alves a fim de identificar como a falta, que leva à esperança, não é necessariamente sinônimo de tristeza, mas de alegria na busca, a partir da ideia de mística. Pretendemos, com isso, contribuir para a discussão sobre uma teoria da religião em Rubem Alves.
This article intends to demonstrate how, in Rubem Alves’ thought, the idea of hope is central to the formation of a theory of religion. In our view, hope is placed between the presence of absence and mystical emigration, responding to an ontological lack in the human being. From this characterization, we intend to dialogue with a certain criticism made to Alves in order to identify how lack, which leads to hope, is not necessarily synonymous with sadness, but with joy in the search, based on the idea of mysticism. We intend, here, to contribute to the discussion about a theory of religion in Rubem Alves.
