Como objetivo deste artigo, procura-se entender a visão que acadêmicas de enfermagem têm sobre a morte e o morrer, como as mesmas enfrentam essa questão em relação à morte de seus familiares, a perda do outro em sua profissão e em relação a sua própria morte. Identificando quais suas crenças, procura-se entender se a morte para essas acadêmicas ainda é vista como um tabu. Os sujeitos da pesquisa foram 15 acadêmicas voluntárias do Curso de Enfermagem que cursam a partir do sétimo semestre da Universidade de Santa Cruz do Sul (UNISC). Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, em que os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas individuais. Os resultados desta pesquisa foram organizados através da técnica de análise de conteúdo e apontam as dificuldades encontradas pelas entrevistadas em lidar com situações de morte, não só no âmbito técnico, mas também no sentido psicológico. Conclui-se que o assunto morte e morrer ainda permeia o imaginário social como algo ruim, algo que não deva ser falado, trazendo sofrimento para quem precisa lidar com isso na sua prática profissional.

The objective of this paper is to understand the view that nursing students have about death and dying as they face this issue in relation to the death of their relatives, the loss of others in his profession and their own death. Identifying what your beliefs, this paper seeks to understand the death for these students is still seen as taboo. The subjects were 15 volunteers from the academic courses students who attended from the seventh semester at the University of Santa
Cruz do Sul (UNISC). This is a qualitative study where data were collected through individual interviews. The results have been organized by the technique of content analysis, and point to the difficulties encountered by respondents in dealing with death, not only in technical but also in the psychological sense. We conclude that the subject of death and dying still permeates the public mind as something bad, something that should not be spoken, bringing suffering to those who need to deal with it in their professional practice.
