Resumo Português:

Este artigo tem por objetivo analisar a epidemia de peste
bubônica na cidade de Campina Grande em 1912, bem como, as
medidas de higiene publicadas pelos jornais da época. Foram medidas
que compreendem desde a limpeza corporal, asseio de casas, ruas,
bairros e em especial as regiões consideradas insalubres e ameaçadoras.
A peste bubônica foi uma moléstia que sempre esteve presente no
imaginário do medo em todos os povos e épocas, em especial, na
Paraíba por não possuir um serviço de higiene eficiente que impedisse
a sua chegada ao estado. Problematizamos ainda a bubônica e suas
metáforas para percebermos por meio das notícias as sensibilidades
dos sujeitos infectados. Para isso, utilizamos notícias veiculadas nos
jornais A Imprensa e A União, além das inúmeras medidas solidificadas
em leis e decretos criados para afastar a peste maligna.

This article has the objective to analysis the bubonic plague
epidemic in the city of Campina Grande at 1912, as well, the hygiene
measures published by newspapers of the time. Were measured comprising
since body cleansing, cleanliness of houses, streets, neighborhoodsand especially regions considered unhealthy and threatening. The bubonic
plague was a disease that always been present in the imagery of
fear in all people and time, especially, in the Paraíba by not having an
efficient hygiene service that preventing their arrival in state. We also
problematize the plague and its metaphors to realize through the news
the sensitivities of the individuals infected. For this, we use linked stories
in the newspapers A Imprensa e A União, besides the various measures
solidified in laws and decrees designed to remove the malign plague.
