Polybia Lepeletier pertence à subfamÃlia Polistinae e é considerado o gênero mais tÃpico de vespas sociais da América do Sul. Compreende 58 espécies descritas distribuÃdas em 11 subgêneros, sendo que 11 espécies ocorrem no Rio Grande do Sul. Neste trabalho, é fornecida uma chave de identificação, bem como breves diagnoses das espécies do gênero no estado.
Polybia Lepeletier (Hymenoptera: Vespidae: Polistinae) in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Polybia Lepeletier belongs to the subfamily Polistinae and is considered the most typical genus of South America social wasps. 58 species are described distributed in 11 subgenus, and 11 species occurs in Rio Grande do Sul. In this work, an identification key is provided, as well short diagnoses of the species of the genus in the state.
