O grande reformador do século XVI Martinho Lutero é uma figura importante para a teologia ainda hoje. Em 2017 comemora-se 500 anos da Reforma e vemos como oportuno retomar o pensamento do referido autor. A escolha da temática do Espírito Santo também é estratégica, pois trata-se de um tema com déficit de sistematização e reflexão, tanto no período da Reforma, quanto ainda hoje. As controvérsias com os espiritualistas, chamados por Lutero de entusiastas, levaram o reformador a assumir alguns posicionamentos que representaram um fechamento posterior da ortodoxia luterana para as questões que envolviam uma teologia do Espírito. Este texto busca refletir sobre as contribuições de Lutero para uma teologia do Espírito Santo.

he great reformer of the sixteenth century, Martin Luther, is an important figure for theology today. In 2017 is celebrated 500 years of the Reformation and we see as opportune to resume the thought of the mentioned author. The choice of the theme of the Holy Spirit is also strategic, as it is a topic with a lack of systematization and reflection, both in the Reformation period and still today. Controversies with the spiritualists, called by Luther of enthusiasts, led the reformer to assume some positions that represented a later closure of Lutheran orthodoxy to issues involving a theology of the Spirit. This text seeks to reflect on Luther's contributions to a theology of the Holy Spirit.
