O artigo apresenta a trajetória de uma pesquisa em história social recentemente concluída. Inserida no campo de estudos sobre o pós-abolição, foi elaborada a partir de o Exemplo, jornal da imprensa negra de Porto Alegre. Aborda o processo de construção do tema, a discussão historiográfica, o referencial teórico, a metodologia, as fontes e os acervos. Objetiva, enfim, expor possibilidades de investigar uma mesma fonte ou objeto e, especialmente, elaborar problemas de pesquisa dentro do referido campo.
Resumo Inglês:
The article introduces the trajectory of a recently completed social history research. Inserted on the post-abolition studies field, it was elaborated from O Exemplo, newspaper of the black press of Porto Alegre. It covers the process of construction of the theme, the historiographical discussion, the theoretical reference, the methodology, the sources and the collections. Finally, it aims to expose possibilities of investigating the same source or object and, especially, to elaborate research problems within the post-abolition studies field.
