A pesquisa identificou e mensurou os impactos ambientais oriundos de uma arborização incorreta que ocorreu em décadas passadas no Bairro Jardim Umuarama, em Uberlândia/MG. Na época da construção do bairro, a região era bem afastada do centro da cidade. O crescimento desta fez com que hoje, o bairro se situe numa região mista residencial-comercial, próxima do centro da cidade onde há atividades comerciais diversificadas e intenso trânsito de veículos. Encontram-se neste bairro dois grandes pólos geradores de viagens: a Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (Campus Umuarama) e o Hospital das Clínicas de Uberlândia (inaugurado em 1970). O nome dado ao bairro significa lugar ensolarado, alto, de bom clima e para que fosse assim, a arborização foi uma das primeiras exigências aos compradores de lotes. A modificação da vizinhança impõe um trânsito pesado às ruas e avenidas. Esta pesquisa mostra qual a percepção dos moradores em relação à conflituosa convivência com a arborização local.

The research identified and measured the environmental impact of afforestation of a wrong that occurred in past decades in the neighborhood Umuarama in Uberlândia / MG. At the time of construction of the neighborhood, the area was well away from the city center. The growth of this meant that today, the neighborhood is located in a mixed residential-commercial area, near the city center where there are diversified business activities and intense vehicular traffic. These neighborhoods are two major generators of travel centers: the Federal University of Uberlândia (Umuarama Campus) and University Hospital of Uberlândia (opened in 1970). The name given to the neighborhood means sunny place, tall, good weather and that were so, the tree planting was one of the first requirements for purchasers of lots. The modification of the neighborhood imposes a heavy traffic on the streets and avenues. This research shows that the perception of residents regarding the conflicting coexistence with the afforestation site.
