A argumentação desenvolvida neste texto ocupa-se dos pressupostos teóricos elaborados pelo historiador inglês Quentin Skinner, autor reconhecido por seu importante trabalho no campo das teorias de interpretação dos clássicos da polÃtica. Após reconstituir a análise interna de seu livro Maquiavel, apresento e discuto brevemente alguns dos elementos que integram o núcleo da teoria interpretativa dos clássicos, conforme formulada pelo historiador inglês. Em sÃntese, são apresentados alguns dos pressupostos teóricos que Skinner julga necessários aos que se esforçam em perceber, nos textos polÃticos, as especificidades da linguagem de sociedades do passado.
The argument developed in this paper deals with the theoretical assumptions made by the British historian Quentin Skinner, author recognized for their important work in the field of interpretation of classical theories of politics. After reviewing the internal structure of his book Machiavelli, I present and discuss briefly some of the elements that make up the core of the theory of interpretation of the classics, as formulated by the English historian. In sum, I present some theoretical assumptions that Skinner thinks necessary for those who strive to realize in political texts, the specific language of past societies.
