O presente artigo tem por objetivo analisar o processo de povoamento da região noroeste de Minas Gerais, em particular a vila de Paracatu no século XVIII. Utilizamos, como fontes, os registros paroquiais de batismo que indicam a origem dos pais das crianças batizadas.

The purpose of the study reported on in this paper was as to investigate the process of povoamento of the region the northwest of Minas Gerais, in particular the village of Paracatu in the 18 century. As source, we use the parochial registers of baptism that indicate the origin of the parents of the bapized children.
