Vários argumentos sobre a existência do mal foram apresentados em diversas épocas, podendo ser traduzidos em duas alternativas: uma visão centrada em Deus e outra no homem. No primeiro caso, pode-se apontar três possibilidades: Deus é bom, tudo o que existe é bom e o mal não existe; o mal existe e Deus está empenhado na batalha contra o mal; Deus não pode agir errado e, portanto, tudo o que Ele faz é bom. Enquanto que no segundo, afirma-se que, a bondade seria de menor valor, se fosse parte inalienável da natureza do homem. O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar a visão pascaliana sobre o mal, ou seja, o pecado original que determinou a entrada do mal no mundo, e, consequentemente a ocultação de Deus.

Several arguments about the existence of evil were presented at different times and could be translated into two alternatives: a perspective centered on God and another on man. In the first case, three possibilities can be pointed out: God is good, everything that exists is good and evil does not exist; evil exists and God is engaged in the battle against evil; God cannot do wrong and therefore everything he does is good. Whereas in the second it is said that goodness would be of less value if it were an inalienable part of the nature of man. The purpose of this article is to present the pascalian view on evil, that is, the original sin that determined the entrance of evil into the world, and consequently the concealment of God.
