The article provides a melopoetic analysis of song "Ouro de tolo", by Raul Seixas, seeking to assess the internal coherence of its formal and thematic elements within the existential and ideological impasses that fed the life and work of the Brazilian singer and composer. With this objective, we outline an approach with other songs of Raul, especially "Metamorfose ambulante", using, also, several elements appear in the documentary Raul: o inÃcio, o fim e o meio, by Walter Carvalho.
