Escrevendo em um momento de transição dentro do IHGRGS, e atuando como expoente da nova vertente regionalista deste, Manoelito de Ornellas traçou um paralelo entre o habitante do Rio Grande e o beduíno, atendo-se principalmente a elementos culturais destes. No presente artigo, buscamos analisar como o autor, por meio de sua escrita da história, concebe as influências dos beduínos na formação do gaúcho, atendo-nos aos caracteres psicológicos e culturais.

Writing at a time of transition within the IHGRGS, and acting as an exponent of its new regionalist strand, Manoelito de Ornellas drew a parallel between the inhabitant of Rio Grande and the Bedouin, focusing mainly on their cultural elements. In the present article, we seek to analyze how the author, through his writing of history, conceives the influences of the Bedouins in the formation of the gaucho, paying attention to the psychological and cultural characters.
