Considerando a diferença no emprego dos termos aphairesis e apophasis, respectivamente, em alguns tratados de Plotino e na Dissertação XI do Comentário à República de Proclo, trata-se de analisar dois elementos fundamentais: a) a diferença entre Plotino e Proclo na apreensão do estatuto do Primeiro PrincÃpio da realidade, no contexto exegético da analogia solar (República VI); b) disso decorre uma diferença no tipo de “teologia negativa†de cada um, situando Proclo mais próximo da teologia negativa praticada na tradição cristã posterior.
Considering the difference between the terms aphairesis and apophasis, as they are used in some of Plotin’s treatises and in Proclus’ Commentary on the Republic- Essay XI, this article aims at analyzing two fundamental elements: a) the difference between Plotin and Proclus concerning the understanding of the First Principle of Reality, in the exegetic context of the solar system analogy (Republic VI); b) consequently, the different types of “negative theology†that both philosophers adopted, Proclus being closer to the negative theology practiced by the Christian tradition later on.
