Este artigo pretende analisar e discutir a conexão entre as categorias de feminilidade, loucura e escrita durante o século XIX, através da obra O papel de parede amarelo (1892), de Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Considerando a biologização dos comportamentos e definição dos papéis sexuais durante o século XIX, juntamente a patologização do corpo feminino, em especial os “problemas dos nervos”, é possível pensarmos a interssecionalidade entre as temáticas do ser mulher e ser louca para compreender a subjetividade feminina durante o fin de siècle. Por fim, este artigo também se propõe a compreender a escrita feminina deste período, visto a presença do tema da loucura na obra estudada e outras, possibilitando também pensar essa escrita como forma de denúncia e resistência às condições compartilhada pelas mulheres, assim como uma visão da loucura como transgressão às normas de gênero socialmente impostas.

This article intends to analyze and discuss the connection between the categories of femininity, madness and writing during the nineteenth century, through Charlotte Perkins Gilman's The Yellow Wallpaper (1892). Considering the biologization of behaviors and the definition of sexual roles during the nineteenth century, with the pathologization of the female body, especially the "brain sickness", it is possible to think the intersection between womanhood and madness to understand the feminine subjectivity during the fin de siècle. Finally, this article also proposes to understand the feminine writing on this period, considering the presence of madness as theme on the book object of this study and others, allowing us also to think this writing as a form of denunciation and resistance to the conditions shared by women by the time, as well as a view of madness as transgression of gender norms
