O artigo trata dos megaeventos esportivos e seus impactos nas cidades brasileiras. Partindo dos estudos teóricos da literatura internacional, bem como das análises recentes da realidade brasileira, discutimos como os megaeventos programados para o Brasil (Copa do Mundo de 2014 e Jogos OlÃmpicos de 2016) estão influenciando nas polÃticas urbanas nas cidades-sede e se convertendo em um modelo de polÃtica urbana para as demais cidades brasileiras. Nos últimos anos os grandes eventos esportivos estão se localizando nos paÃses emergentes, onde geram mais oportunidades de negócios e maiores impactos socioespaciais. Os megaeventos são considerados como aceleradores de projetos urbanos e seus efeitos principais são a valorização do espaço urbano e a relocalização das populações mais pobres. Analisamos os efeitos dos megaeventos nas principais sedes e apontamos mais detalhadamente o caso de Porto Alegre exemplificando as relações entre megaeventos e reestruturação urbana.

This paper deal with the sports mega-events and its impacts on the Brazilian cities. Starting from theoretical studies from international literature, as well current analysis of Brazilian reality, we discuss how the sport mega-events planning to Brazil (Fifa's World Cup and Olympic Games) are influencing the urban policies in the host cities and converting in a model of urban policies to other Brazilian cities. Nowadays the sports mega-events are localized in the emergent countries where generate more business opportunities and greatest socio-spatial impacts. The mega-events area considerate accelerators of urban projects and their main effects are the urban space are the increase of urban land value and the relocalization of poor people. We analyze the mega-event effects on the main host cities and describe in a comprehensive view the case of Porto Alegre, the relations of sport mega-events and urban restructuring.
