Resumo Português:
O artigo parte de uma distinção entre religião e espiritualidade, tomando a primeira no sentido institucional e a segunda no sentido de uma vivência humana fundamental, que pode se exprimir de várias maneiras. Em seguida, analisa as razões do decréscimo da religião e o crescimento da espiritualidade enquanto experiência de Deus. Por fim, pretende responder à questão subentendida no título: haveria relação entre o crescimento de uma e o decréscimo da outra?

The article starts from a distinction between religion and spirituality, taking the former in the institutional sense and de latter in the sense of a fundamental human experience, which can be expressed in various ways. Next, it analyses reasons for the decrease of religion and the growth of spirituality as experience of God. In the final part, it intends to respond to the question that is implicit in the title: would there be a relationship between the expansion of spirituality and the diminution of religion?
