acolhimento do Rosto.

This dissertation intends to show how ethic-religious or social relation in Emmanuel
Lévinas’ thinking is capable of opposing the onto-theological discourse about God. First,
we will try to show the presuppositions through which Lévinas conceives ethics as a
primary philosophy - how others can affect you - that is taken from ontological alienation
thanks to the existing previous to the being. After that, we will analyze in what way
levinasian phenomenology can be considered metaphenomenology. In it, not even what is
boundless will be assimilated again by the transcendental conscience, nor the finite reduced
to the anonymousness of being. In Lévinas, conscience of, intentionality, is hospitality and
acceptance of the Face. Finally, the investigation will demonstrate that the saying of the
face, as language that does not give in to the complicity of concept, that is justice, that is
prophetic word that answers to the appeal of others and that is testimony, the only one
capable of interpellating the self, empty it of the violence it can cause to others. With the
withdrawal of subjectivity due to effect, hostage, replacement and expiation by others,
ethics can develop into peace wisdom. It is in this narrative that the discourse about God is
possible and passes, and passes as the meaning that makes the relation or ethicreligious
language possible.
