O presente artigo tem por objetivo investigar o desempenho de um determinado grupo de alunos, por meio de três atividades que envolvem a leitura e a interpretação de gráficos de barras, setores e linhas. Participaram deste estudo 32 alunos do 9.º ano (14 anos) do Ensino Fundamental de uma escola particular do litoral sul do estado de São Paulo. Para tanto, realizouse uma análise qualitativa numa perspectiva diagnóstica, descritiva e interpretativa. O processo de análise da compreensão da linguagem gráfica pautou-se nas ideias proposta por Curcio, que considera três níveis de compreensão da linguagem gráfica (leitura dos dados, leitura entre os dados e leitura além dos dados). Concluímos que esse grupo de alunos possui baixo desempenho na compreensão da linguagem gráfica do segundo nível, porém no primeiro e no terceiro níveis os estudantes tiveram maior desenvoltura nos três tipos de gráficos avaliados

This article aims to investigate the performance of a group of students, through three activities involving the reading and interpretation of bar graphs, sectors, and lines. This study involved 32 9th grade (14 years) students from a private school on the south coast of the state of São Paulo. For this purpose, a qualitative analysis was carried out from a diagnostic and descriptive perspective. The process of analyzing the graph language understanding was based on the ideas proposed by Curcio, who considers three levels of graph language comprehension. We concluded that this group of students has a low performance in the understanding of the graph language of the second level, but in the first and third levels the students had more agility in the three types of assessed graphs.
