A pesquisa objetiva-se verificar a metodologia da escola contemporânea nas práticas de leitura na educação infantil em uma escola da rede pública na cidade de Uberlândia-MG, sobretudo a importância da inserção da literatura infantil na préescola como estratégia para a formação de leitores. Para isso utilizou-se como estudo a metodologia transversal de abordagem quantitativa realizada entre agosto e setembro de 2018, de maneira que foi aplicado um questionário aos professores da educação infantil, abordando perguntas sobre as aulas de leitura, metodologia de ensino, se consideram importante a introdução da literatura infantil como recurso para fomentar as práticas de leituras, quais recursos didáticos usados, entre outros. Por fim, conclui-se que os professores fazem uso da literatura infantil como recurso indispensável para aguçar o interesse dos alunos pela leitura, destacam ainda o quanto a prática enriquece o vocabulário, a escrita, e a leitura dos alunos, através dos contos, histórias e clássicos.

The research aims to verify the methodology of contemporary school in reading practices in children's education in a public school in the city of Uberlândia-MG, especially the importance of inserting children's literature in preschool as a strategy for readers development. The cross-sectional methodology of a quantitative approach was carried out between August and September of 2018. A questionnaire was applied to the teachers, asking about reading classes, teaching methodology, and considering the importance of introducing children's literature as a resource to foster practices of reading, which resources used, among others. It concludes that teachers make use of children's literature as indispensable to sharpen students 'interest in reading. They also highlight how much practice enriches the students' vocabulary, writing and reading through fairy tales, stories, and classics
