A pandemia do COVID-19 aprofundou a crise do capital no mundo. Na realidade brasileira, seus impactos ganham particularidade e se agudizam devido ao ultraliberalismo associado ao posicionamento de extrema direita do presidente Jair Messias Bolsonaro. A pandemia impactou todos os âmbitos da vida e do trabalho, intensificou o uso dos ambientes virtuais e das tecnologias digitais, na educação e no ensino superior, repercutindo nas áreas: ensino, extensão e pesquisa. O Ensino Remoto Emergencial (ERE) impôs desafios à vivência universitária. As reflexões aqui apresentadas, a partir da experiência de iniciação científica, vinculada ao Projeto “Ingressante e Egresso do Curso de Serviço Social da UFOP: um estudo sobre seus perfis” trazem os desafios e os limites do desenvolvimento da atividade de investigação, especificamente, da iniciação científica em Serviço Social, que vem sofrendo o impacto da pandemia do COVID-19. A pandemia confirma a exigência de respostas e estratégias coletivas em defesa da vida e da emancipação humana, na luta contra a crise sanitária e o capital.

The COVID-19 pandemic deepened thecapital crises in the world. In the brazilian reality, its impacts gain particularity and are aggravated due to ultra liberalism related to the positioning of extreme right of the President Jair Messias Bolsonaro. The pandemic has impacted all the aspectsof life and work, intensifying the use of virtual environment and digital technologies, in education and higher education, reverberating in its areas: teaching, extension and research. The Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT) has been imposing challenges to the university experience. The reflections presented here, from the scientific initiation experience, linked to the project “Ingressante e Egresso do Curso de Serviço Social da UFOP: um estudo sobre seus perfis” bring the challenges and limits of the development of research activity, specifically, from scientific initiation in Social Work, that has been suffering the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic confirms the demand for collective responses and strategies in defense of life and human emancipation, in the fight against the health crisis and capital.
