INDICADORES INSTITUCIONAIS DE QUALIDADE EM PERIÓDICOS DA ÁREA DE DEFESA: ANÁLISE DO PERIÓDICO DO EXÉRCITO BRASILEIRO

O objetivo do artigo é analisar indicadores de qualidade em periódicos da área de Defesa, sendo selecionada a revista Coleção Meira Mattos, mapeada entre 2014 e 2021 através da análise bibliométrica de 81 artigos. Na primeira parte do artigo, são avaliados os indicadores de qualidade, delimitados com base em critérios de avaliação da Qualis/CAPES, sendo eles: vinculação à instituição que edita o periódico; titulação acadêmica; e nacionalidade das organizações dos autores. Algumas sugestões de diversificação do alcance da revista foram feitas com base nos dados sobre as instituições representadas e a classificação civil militar dessas instituições. Na segunda parte, é realizada a caracterização preliminar da área de estudos em Defesa por meio de indicadores suplementares: delimitação metodológica e delimitação temática. A justificativa do trabalho se vincula a demanda de consolidação dos Estudos de Defesa dentro da área de Ciência Política e Relações Internacionais, processo esse que passa pelo fortalecimento das revistas nacionais, identificação de pontos a serem trabalhados e construção de um panorama teórico e institucional das redes de pesquisa. O estudo também demonstra a utilidade da bibliometria para realização dessas tarefas.

This article aimed to analyze quality indicators in Defense academic journals, being selected the publication Coleção Meira Mattos, mapped between 2014 and 2021 through bibliometric analysis of 81 articles. In its first section, the journal’s quality indicators, based on some of Qualis/CAPES’s assessment criteria, were examined: ties to the institution that edits the journal in question; academic title; and nationality of the authors’ organizations. Some suggestions were made regarding broader divulgation of the journal by using the data collected on the institutions represented in the journal and the civilian-military classification of these institutions. In its second second, a preliminary characterization of trends in Defense Studies is made by analyzing data on the journal’s prevailing methodological choices and thematic framing. The grounds for this systematization enterprise stems from the need to consolidate Defense Studies in the field of Political Science and International Relations, a process that requires the strengthening of national journals, the identification of aspects to be improved, and the systematization of a theoretical and institutional panorama of research networks. The study also demonstrates the utility of bibliometry for the accomplishment of these tasks.
