Com base nos preceitos de análise fílmica e a partir análise do filme A imagem que falta (2013), do diretor cambojano Rithy Pahn, o presente artigo apresenta discussões acerca de como o autor se utilizou da linguagem de animação para reconstruir seu passado e, nessa reconstrução, apresentar ao mundo relatos, memórias, testemunhos de indivíduos que o acompanharam no período de ascensão do regime totalitarista do Khmer Vermelho, entre os anos de 1975 e 1979, no Camboja. Como forma de organizar nossa análise, a dividimos em três partes. A primeira parte irá versar sobre o texto verbal que acompanha a narrativa; a segunda, sobre as imagens e fotografias de arquivo que o diretor utilizou; na terceira parte analisaremos como a linguagem de animação foi utilizada no documentário.
Based on film analysis concepts and on an analysis of The missing picture(2013), directed by Rihty Pahn, this article presents some discussions about how the director has worked at least with three different languages in order to rebuild his past. In this reconstruction, he presents to the world his memories, individual’s testimonies which were similar to what the director lived in a period in which the Khmer Rouge ascended the power, between years 1975 and 1979, in Cambodja. As a way to organize our analysis, we divided it in three distinct parts. The first one will present considerations about the verbal text and its development along narrative; the second one is about how the director spread images and photographs; in the third one we analyze how animated language was used in the documentary.
